Gareth Parry

Based originally out of Leeds, UK. Home of funk heavyweights the New Mastersounds, The Haggis Horns, soul star Corrine Bailey-Rae and more. He was among the founding members of 9 piece cosmic Afrobeat warriors, the Ariya Astrobeat Arkestra. Their 2 albums on First Word Records gained much praise and enabled tours across the UK and Europe, also gaining them a nomination for Giles Peterson's Worldwide Awards. He also toured with live improvised deep house group, See. Monkey- Do Monkey, which featured legendary drummers Luke Flowers of Cinematic Orchestra fame, Mykey Wilson and Jamie B from the Hidden Orchestra. He soon formed the project The Out of Towners, based on the classic Hammond funk records from the 60's as his main creative output, before relocating to Toronto, Canada. There he continued the project releasing their debut album in July 2014, with a follow up 7inch double A side, to be released on Our Label records in December 2014. The band also serve as the backing group, in a Stax kinda way to Soul/rock singer Matt Morgan, entitled Matt Morgan and the Mayday. They toured the USA this summer, gearing up for a debut release in December 2014. Gareth now brings his talents to Ted Peters & Gumbo Ya Ya.
