Ted Peters

Widely recognized in the Toronto music scene for his skills on the trombone, Ted Peters has been referred to as Canada’s answer to Trombone Shorty. Ted is a 20-year veteran in the music industry, and celebrates his first Juno nomination this year in the Blues Album of the Year category for his work with the Blackburn Brothers. An early fan of Louis Armstrong, Ted got the musician bug at the age of 11, and continues to draw from the New Orleans music scene to craft a musical style that is all his own.  

 

Ted is a multi-faceted musician with unparalleled abilities on the trombone and piano and highly developed vocals. Today, he leads the band Gumbo Ya Ya and regularly performs with the his trio (Ted Peters Trio), Blackburn Brothers and The Sound Parade. His life-long musical career has led to him recording and performing with the likes of Willie Nelson, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Larry Carlton and Al Martino, and to being a regular performer at annual jazz festivals.
